About

markrooze.com is the personal blog of Mark Rooze. That’s me. And here’s a bit about me.

I graduated 3rd of 302 in the Class of 1978 from Lubbock High School in Lubbock, Texas. I served six years in the United States Air Force as an Airborne Russian Linguist, including overseas assignments in Okinawa, Japan and RAF Mildenhall, England.

I received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in mathematics from Angelo State University in December, 1989, and a Master of Arts in English in August, 1992, also from Angelo State.

After seven years of teaching at Weslaco High School in Weslaco, Texas, I moved to South Carolina to pursue Christian ministry, and received a Master of Divinity from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in May, 2003. I was licensed to preach the gospel in Calvary Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America in July, 2005.

I began teaching in post-secondary education in January, 2004, as an Adjunct Instructor at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, SC. I also served as an Instructor in English at Clemson University in 2006-2007. In August, 2008, I accepted a full-time position as an Instructor in English at Florence-Darlington Technical College.

Today, I live in Florence, SC with my wife and daughter. I continue to teach English at Florence-Darlington Technical College in the English and Humanities Department and am the lead instructor in Technical Writing and Advanced Technical Writing. I am also lead teacher in Religion and the chair of the college’s Curriculum and Instruction Committee.

I have continued to pursue a lifetime of musical studies, and am a cellist with the Florence Symphony Orchestra. I also play guitar and bass with church groups and, in keeping with my loves of theology, poetry, and music, write modern Christian hymns as well.
